Those who are not familiar with Grand Junction, Colorado are not aware that this is Colorado’s Grand Valley wine country. There are over twelve wineries scattered around Palisade, southeast of Grand Junction and along the Colorado River. They are situated in a way that folks can tour all of them in a single day. These vineyards and wineries differ from those in the Napa Valley region of California in that they are run by serious winemakers who are friendly and warm at the same time. Wine makers in the Grand Valley region take pride in their craft but do not take themselves too seriously, they are approachable and laidback. The focus of wineries in this area is wine and fun.
The Colorado Mountain Wine Fest is an annual wine festival held in Palisade the third weekend of September. I t draws wine aficionados from all over the country for a weekend of visiting the different wineries and sampling their excellent wines. If you would like to find out more about the Colorado Mountain Wine Fest, please call 800-704-3667 or lo onto www.coloradowinefest.com.
